How to watch movies for only a dollar with VidAngel

How to watch movies for only $1. How to watch movies using VidAngel.

Because we don’t watch movies on a consistent basis, it has never made sense for us to pay for Netflix or any other subscription service. I refuse to pay a recurring fee for movies when it’s common for us to go a month without watching any movies.

In the past, we have exclusively used Redbox. Until now. We have found a cheaper and move convenient way to watch movies. The movies are just $1 and we don’t have to leave the house to go pick up or drop off the movie.

It’s called VidAngel. It’s easy to use, has a large selection (they even have a section titled: Not on Netflix), and you cannot beat $1 for a movie. There is no signup fee or regular expense, so it’s just $1 per movie (for $2 for HD).

VidAngel is unique because you are able to filter the movies you watch. After you pick out your movie you select exactly what you want to filter out. The list gets pretty specific so it would be especially helpful if you decide to filter a movie for your children. Because the list is so specific, it was also easy to filter out some language in a movie we watched recently. We basically just filtered out one word (x15) and it worked well.

Because VidAngel cannot actually rent out a filtered movie, you technically have to buy it from VidAngel and then sell it right back. Confused? I initially was, but that didn’t last long and now we have watched our last 5 movies with VidAngel and will continue to use the them. (The Intern and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. were the most recent watched.) It’s really a simple process. Watch the video below to learn more about how it works.

Watch the video to see how to watch movies for only a dollar with VidAngel:

You buy the movie for $20, you watch the movie, and then you sell back the movie for $19. Your resulting fee for having the movie for 24 hours is $1. You can select for VidAngel to automatically buy it back, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting. No late fees!

What about the $19 credit? After you sell the movie back, you have a credit of $19 on your account. The next time you watch a movie with VidAngel, you just get charged $1 because you already have a credit of $19. If you decide to be done with VidAngel, you can request the credit back.

Another thing to note: You technically must add at least one filter to your movie to watch it. We just watched a movie and had no desire to filter it, so we only selected to have one filter on the credits at the end. There was no change to the movie itself.

Because we may watch a few movies one month and zero the next, VidAngel is the perfect service for us. We pay nothing when we don’t watch a movie, and only $1 when we do. Give it a try!

How to Use Target Cartwheel

Do you want to know a quick & simple way to save at Target? No paper coupon-clipping necessary? Try Target Cartwheel. I have now saved $275.99 in 15 months. This is approximately $220 per year. Not bad!

Target Cartwheel is one of my top 3 favorite apps for saving and making money. It is basically a pick-your-own-coupon app. You select the offers that you want and you get a discount. The list of discounts you can receive is extensive. Most deals range from 5% – 50% off.

If you do not have a smartphone, don’t stop reading! The major perk of Cartwheel: you do not have to use a smartphone. You can select the offers from your computer at home and then print the barcode to bring with you to Target.

I will give you a quick summary of how Target Cartwheel works and then give you my tips for how best to use the app.

  1. Browse for deals
  2. Select deals you wish to use
  3. Scan barcode at checkout

Pretty easy. Here are my tips…

Do a quick scan of the app before you head out to Target. Feel free to skip this step if you shop alone. I typically have two little girls with me and so I cannot stare at my phone the entire time I’m shopping. I will select a few deals from home and it helps my shopping trip go smoothly.

Browse the collections. There are multiple collections to choose from and you will soon figure out which ones are most useful to you. The two that I always scan: Weekly Ad and Hot Deals.

  • The Weekly Ad collection includes (not shockingly…) items from the weekly ad. It’s an easy way to save. If toilet paper is on sale in the ad, find it in the Weekly Ad Collection and you save twice!
  • Hot Deals typically includes deals ranging from 25% – 50% off. I quickly scan this section, as I have found a few great items for 50% off. (If I add that to coupons I have or other savings apps I use, this is where I can save big. Think free or almost free.)

Search for items by using search bar. I use the search bar to add products from my shopping list. There are currently 657 items available to select in my cartwheel app, so it’s quicker for me to just use the search bar instead of browsing so many items.

Browse by category (under All Offers). While I do prefer to use the search bar, I do use this on occasion. I often browse the Baby category.

Search for items by scanning barcodes in store. I often scan items as I put them in my cart to see if there are any offers available. If there are no offers matching the barcode, it will sometimes show you similar offers.

Depending on how my two little shoppers have done, I often will be scanning barcodes right before checkout to see if I missed any deals.

Once you have selected your deals, the cashier will simply scan your barcode. They can scan the barcode within your app or from your computer print-out.

There are no coupons to clip and worry about. Cartwheel is an easy way to save on items that you would already be purchasing. I would recommend using it all by itself if you have no desire to clip coupons.

How to Save Even More…

But…if you are willing to clip coupons, you will save even more! You can use Cartwheel on top of manufacturer’s coupons, Target coupons, and other savings apps. And don’t forget the 5% from the Target REDcard.

I often use Cartwheel along with the following savings apps:

If you are willing to spend a little extra time to look through multiple apps, you may be able to get products for free or almost free!

Not willing {or just don’t care enough} to spend the extra time?? You will still save quite a bit just using Cartwheel.

Top 3 Apps for Saving & Making Money – Over $700 Per Year!

Save over $700 per year with just 3 apps!

I cherish being a stay-at-home mom and never doubt that it’s the best choice for our family. But…living on one income is not always easy. We feel that the sacrifice is worth it. I love looking for opportunities to save money and make money in creative ways.

Today I will share my 3 favorite apps for saving and making money. All 3 are apps that I currently use.

Top 3 Apps for Saving and Making Money. Ibotta, Cartwheel, Field Agent

I made $298.00 in less than 16 months. Including $71.00 in August alone! Annual approximation: $223.50

Ibotta is so great that it deserves its own post. I will follow up with more info on this stellar savings app. Here is a quick summary:

The app gives actual cash back (rebates) at multiple stores. I use it most often at Target and Whole Foods; it’s also accepted at Walmart, Walgreens, Costco, The Honest Co., Best Buy, Sephora, The Body Shop and the list goes on.

Browse the app and find the rebates that you want. You have to do a super-quick task (which takes seconds). Example: take a poll or learn a fact.

Most of the rebates are for brand items. Here are just few current examples: Chobani, Enjoy Life, Green Works, and Swiffer. Most rebates are in the $0.25 to $2.00 range, but I have scored $6.00 on ONE item! There are also “Any Brand” rebates for items like milk, bread, eggs.

One of the reasons I use this app so often is because of the brand varieties available. And more than just groceries! Many other apps like this offer foods and brands that I do not often purchase as they are highly processed convenience foods. Ibotta offers a large range of products, often including organic items. Do you see how I received $71 cash back in August? They had multiple rebates for Plum Organic baby food and I took full advantage.

Ibotta has sweet bonuses that can add up quickly…more on that in my more detailed how-to save with ibotta post.

Target Cartwheel

I saved $264.05 in 14 months. Annual approximation: $226.33

20% OFF Clearance Apparel & Accessories...Cashed out on that!
20% OFF Clearance Apparel & Accessories…Cashed out on that!

Cartwheel is an app available to use at Target. It’s basically a pick-your-own-coupon app. You select the offers that you want and you get a discount. The list of discounts you can receive is extensive. A majority of the deals are 5% off, but there are also deals from 20-50% off. (I do not remember seeing higher than 50%, but it’s possible there have been higher deals).

If I purchase 20 items at Target, I could get discounts on anywhere from 4-5 items or on a good day, all 20. It is dependent on what items you are buying. Many staples are basically always on the app. You can scan items in store to find out if they are on Cartwheel. Super slick!

Major perk: you do not have to use a smartphone. You can select your offers from your computer at home and then print the barcode to bring with you to Target.

Here is my more detailed review on How to use Target Cartwheel.

Field Agent

I made $133.50 in approximately 6 months. Annual approximation: $267.00

field agent save 133.50

Now this is fun. You log into Field Agent’s app and find jobs in your area. There are audits, price checks, surveys, scavenger hunts and more. There are occasional opportunities to test products. I check the app anytime I go out and see if there are any jobs I’m interested in. Sometimes it is as easy as taking a few quick pictures at Target. I have even taken a quick 5 minute survey in the comfort of my own home and made a few bucks.

My favorite job was buying and testing diapers. I was reimbursed for the cost of a scale and diapers. Free diapers, free scale and it was a fun task.

I tell my daughter that we are going on “Field Agent Investigations”. She just might think they are as fun as I do.
