We are finally enjoying warmer weather and it’s motivating me to get started on Spring Cleaning! There is something about the fresh air, sunshine and open windows that makes me want to freshen up my home! I want to get it out of the way so when we start hitting the 70 degree days, I am outside playing with the kiddos.

30 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge

Here is how it works: There are 5 days of specific tasks to complete, followed by two “Pick Your Project” days. It may work best to schedule the Pick Your Project days for your weekend. Depending on what your schedule looks like, you can make the Pick Your Project days fall whenever you want.

Why did I include the Pick Your Project days? Every house is different and everyone has different priorities so you can decide what you want to spend your weekends on. {Or just take the weekends off!}

Here are a few examples for the Pick Your Project days:

  • Clean outdoor furniture or equipment
  • Clean garage
  • Wash & clean out car
  • Wash baseboards
  • Launder throw pillows & blankets
  • Power wash deck
  • More ideas on printable schedule

I have joined Challenges before and later found that some of the tasks can take a few hours to complete. I just didn’t have the time (and just wasn’t willing) to set aside so much time every single day for cleaning. So I tried to spread the cleaning out so it didn’t take hours each day.

You will notice that a few cleaning activities are grouped by task instead of by room. Many spring cleaning schedules will list “wash windows” under each room. If I am getting out the products to wash windows and I’m in the window washing groove, my preference is to just wash as many windows as I can.

  1. What a great idea! I am not very “domestic” especially for a SAHM (thank goodness for an understanding husband) so I love having a challenge to keep me on track. I’ll definitely be joining.

  2. I love spring cleaning lists! This looks wonderful. I completely agree with you–if I’m getting all the supplies out to wash the windows, I’m just going to do them all at once. Good call.
    Blessings,

  3. Yesterday was the first day of beautiful weather for us in AL. I am looking forward to cleaning out and organizing our garage in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for sharing this great list.

    • By the way, I just tried to follow you on G+ but your sidebar button isn’t working. So I tried to +1 the post from the left side button, but that didn’t work correctly either. It didn’t pull up the specific post. Pinned it and subscribed to the newsletter.

      • It was set up to give a +1 or something instead of going directly to my page. I’m not on G+ much, so it wasn’t linked. I now linked it…so I better update the page! Thanks for visiting and for pinning! :)

  4. Spring cleaning and I have such a love hate relationship. I am a neat freak and enjoy clean and tidy spaces but it takes so much time and effort! This list is super helpful to get started.

  5. I love spring, and spring cleaning! Spring is taking its sweet time getting here but when it does I am going to use this great list! Love FREE printables! Yeah! Thank you so much for sharing this on Making Memories Mondays! :-)

    • You are welcome! I hope the printable is helpful!

I love spring too…especially because it means summer is coming. :)

  6. What a great list! I really like how you’ve broken things apart to make them seem doable. It still seems so daunting to me. I think I need to start smaller, lol. Like a room at a time. It may take me till next spring, but it will be done! =0)

  7. Thanks for sharing the cleaning inspiration with us! I love the printable and the “pick your project” concept. Glad you linked this to the Art of Home-Making Mondays this week :)

    • I figured the Pick Your Project is better as we don’t all have the same homes and priorities. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. My spring cleaning major project is to revamp my daughter’s room. She left for college in 2007 and her room is still basically as she left it. ha. We did take the posters off the walls, but we’ve been staring at ugly tape marks for years now. I’d like to turn it into an adult room for when she and her husband come stay with us on weekends. Thanks for your encouragement to get with it!

  9. Yay. The warm weather really gets me wanting to clean. I tackled underneath the gas burners on our stove top last week. Thanks for sharing this motivation and free printable with us. Tweeted and will share on my blog Facebook page and pin to our linkup board tomorrow

    • If you want to blog about it, please do!! Make sure you leave me the link here in my comments, so I can stop by and read it.

I will be blogging about it each week (or more) and will be sending out e-mails to everyone who signs up. But other than that, it’s just a challenge we can all do together.

  10. You sure motivated! I have trouble waking up, and I pay people to clean. You’re a better woman than me.
Thanks for coming to the Inspire Me Monday Linky party. I’m Janice, one of your hostesses.

  11. This is a great idea!! I might be better about consistently sticking to a cleaning schedule with a list like this! Thanks for sharing your great post with us this week. Hope to see you at the Best of the Blogosphere next week! :)

  12. Oh how fun! I love cleaning challenges. I also love that you gave TWO days to clean windows. I saw one challenge where they only gave one day and I thought “Seriously?” Of course, it depends on the size of a person’s house and how many windows they have. We have a ridiculous amount of windows! And then we also have a running battle with doggy noses, lol!

    • I had no intention of doing all my windows in one day.

I don’t have battles with doggy noses, but I do have a one year old little girl. Lots of smudges!

  13. Good morning! I just wanted to let you know that this post was *featured* this week at the Art of Home-Making Mondays! Thank you for linking up with us :) And we hope to have your share again this week!

  14. Stopping by from JES’ party, thanks for all the great tips and the 30 day schedule, which is very precise, but lenient, also, with the Pick Your Project Days!

    Happy Spring!

    Poppy

    • I figured that it made sense to have Pick Your Project Days, since we all have different homes & different messes. :)

  15. Good morning! Yay! You already see that this post was featured last week. :) We had a little bit of craziness and didn’t get last week’s featured posts out, so YOURS will be shared across my social media sites this week and pinned to pinterest. Thanks so much for linking up at Mama Moments Mondays. :)
